Abstract
In recent decades, the triple nexus between climate change, environmental migration, and urbanization has become one of the most important research topics in the field of urban sustainability. The present study uses a qualitative content analysis method and a systematic review of (25) international scientific studies published between (2020) and (2025) to explore concepts, key themes, and conceptual gaps in the literature related to climate migration and urban resilience. The results of the analysis show that climate migration is a multidimensional phenomenon that takes shape in the context of the dynamic interaction of climatic, social, and institutional factors. The findings are organized into three overarching themes: (1) the dynamics of climate migration in the context of environmental change, (2) the impacts of climate migration on urban resilience and sustainability, and (3) resilient policymaking towards climate migration. This research attempts to present a comprehensive picture of the challenges and opportunities of climate migration in an urban context by drawing a network of key concepts such as climate justice, water and resource connectivity, adaptive migration, and participatory governance. The findings can provide a basis for designing integrated, sustainable, and justice-oriented policies in the face of urban climate migration.
