Identifying the Population Optimal Model in Islam with Emphasis on the Thoughts of Allameh Hosseini Tehrani; Using Content Analysis Method

Abstract

Contemporary challenges in the field of population, particularly the effects of global population control policies on the cultural and social identity of Muslim communities, demand a model rooted in Islamic teachings that encompasses both quantitative and qualitative dimensions. This research aims to develop an ideal population model in Islam, with a focus on the thoughts of Allameh Mohammad Hossein Hosseini Tehrani. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, thematic analysis was conducted with the support of MAXQDA software (2020). The research examines Allameh's works, including "Resaleh Nikahieh," "Anwar al-Malakut," and his collection of statements, to extract themes through inductive analysis. The study identifies 91 quoted themes, 232 foundational themes, 29 organizing themes, and 7 overarching themes. These overarching themes encompass "resisting global conspiracies and anti-population policies targeting Muslims," "negative impacts of contraceptive drugs on Muslim population growth," "prohibition of sterilization in Islam as harm to God’s creation," "ban on abortion and withdrawal in Islamic teachings," "necessity of increasing population and trust in divine providence," "the crucial role of women in generational continuity and spiritual growth of Islamic societies," and "prioritizing motherhood alongside balancing women’s social responsibilities." The findings emphasize that the Islamic population model, rooted in the strengthening of family values, trust in divine providence, and recognition of women’s pivotal role in continuity and spiritual development, can serve as a holistic response to the modern population crisis. It aligns with Islamic principles while addressing social and cultural challenges faced by Muslim communities.
